Charity begins at home but gets a little help from school!
Lots of homemade cakes made their way into school during Tuesday break time…although with staff and students eager for the treats and to contribute to charity, they did not last long! In just 25 minutes £53.25 had been raised.
Year 7 student Roxanne Hammett, her mum Lynsey and Godmother Richenda, who both attended Oak for their education, were on site to support Cancer Research, however, this is not just a one off event.
Every year The Hammett family pick a charity and hold a fundraising event of some kind. Last year they held a family Fun day and Lynsey participated in a skydive; raising a massive £1650 for Endometriosis UK.
This year, Roxanne chose Cancer Research UK and as well as running the cake sale, has signed up to participate in the Race For Life along Bournemouth sea front on 9th June.
Oak Academy are very proud to be helping such a worthwhile cause and will continue to update you on Roxanne’s progress and fundraising.
Time to put the cake down and get the running shoes on instead – Together we can beat cancer!
