GYAP Visitors

On Monday 15th January, 42 students and 4 staff arrived from the North East of China from 2 different schools.

We kicked things off with a welcome assembly, where Oak GYAP ambassadors told our visitors about the school, local area and what life was like in England.
Apparently our guest really liked the idea of finishing on a Friday at 2pm, but our students did not like the end of school time of 6.30-7pm in China quite so much!

For the rest of the day, half the group enjoyed some cooking, scientific experiments and sport, whilst the other half joined dour students in lessons such as English, Maths, Science, History and Art.

On Wednesday everyone worked together in small groups to complete an interactive quiz where the race was on to see how many points could be accumulated.

After that, another challenge involving spaghetti, marshmallows and tower building! Lots of great efforts and designs but only one group triumphed…although the I’m not sure which had more of the resources on…the towers or floor!

On Thursday we swapped the groups to ensure that our guests had the opportunity to see all that we offer here at Oak Academy. At the end of the day we had a farewell assembly, with the principal of the school as our guest of honour.

We have all made many more new friends and have already been invited to China, which our students have already accepted may be packing for as we speak.

We look forward to keeping in touch and welcoming our guests from Dalian in the future.
