On Wednesday 19th December our ‘Showtime’ students put on a spectacular, festive variety show, for all to enjoy. Following a term of Wednesday afternoon enrichment, students were able to present the skills and talents that they have been developing with the support of Mrs Joy.
The evening consisted of a range of musical and dance pieces, as a whole cast, in duets and even some solo performances. The theme of the showcase centred around a festive drama story, that saw a family attempting to meet with their family from Spain for a Christmas holiday…. but not without a few mishaps along the way!
Prior to the show the students had worked tirelessly during their enrichment slot, as well as extra weekend and evening rehearsals, to bring this show together. Along with helping to create the pieces for the show, students have been helping backstage with costume and props.
On the night students, staff and families of the Academy supported in a number of ways including front of house, with tickets sells, backstage and of course by watching the performances. came to support by watching it or helping out front of house to sell tickets, run the raffle or backstage. There was also a group of students and parents running a refreshments stall, as a fundraiser for Mrs Cummings Malawi project.
Overall we raised £180 for the Performing Arts department which will go towards new equipment for future performances. Thank you for all involved who helped make the evening such a success.
We are already looking forward to the Easter show!
