2018-19 Term 2 Newsletter

We can’t believe how quickly the time is passing this year, and although the evenings are drawing in, students continue to impress us with their resilience and readiness to learn! Please pass on our thanks to them for their efforts this term and encourage them to keep working hard, right up to the end of term. Thank you also for your continued support as parents and carers – we really appreciate this.

We are delighted, as ever, to release our Term 2 Newsletter. This is a particularly important edition since it includes information about our recent Ofsted Inspection. We are pleased to share that the team recognised the significant improvements that have been made since the last inspection in March 2016. Although the overall judgement is absolutely not where we want the school to be, the inspectors said Oak is ‘unrecognisable’ since the last inspection and are confident that action taken will continue the trend of improvement – it’s only a matter of time:

“Since the school joined the Ambitions Academies Trust in 2017, there has been a determined and relentless focus to improve the standard of education that the school provides. Leaders have had to overcome significant challenges to rectify the weaknesses of the past and redesign systems which had hitherto not been fit for purpose. They have undertaken this with energy and articulate a clear vision for the school and the curriculum. Leaders are committed to providing the best possible experiences and life opportunities for pupils in their care”. Ofsted 2018
