Tuesday 24th July 2018 witnessed the inaugural Oak Academy Sports Day at Kings Park and was an excellent event enjoyed by students, staff and parents alike!
Despite the relentless sun pouring in from the summer heatwave, all students who took part demonstrated fantastic resilience and enthusiasm to compete for their house team to accumulate as many points as possible. The team games in the morning were competitive throughout with the reintroduction of tug of war being a highlight for both students and staff! Well done to the staff teams who managed to exert a rope breaking force!
With the Kings Park athletics track promising quicker times and a higher quality of execution in the field events, students had the opportunity to challenge the existing track and field sports day records, some of which have been held since the 1990’s!! Students didn’t disappoint and in total, four school records were broken, the eldest having been held since 2002. Congratulations to all of our record breakers
The PE Department would like to thank everyone involved, including all students who displayed our Academy ethos of High Expectation High Achievement expertly in all events; staff who moved away from their normal subject areas to act as umpires, scorers and marshals; and finally to those parents who were able to come down, support and enjoy the day!
The winners of the day for each year and overall were:
Year 7 Red
Year 8 Yellow
Year 9 Blue
Year 10 Blue
We look forward to Sports Day 2019 and hope you enjoy some of the highlights in the picture below:
