A day of new experiences! With new teachers, a different school to explore, new friends to make and great taster lessons to try, Wednesday 4th July has marked a great first day at Oak Academy for the Year 6 students who will be joining us in September 2018.
Students arrived this morning to be greeted by members of the staff team and enjoy breakfast in the canteen before having a welcome assembly with Principal Mr Burgas. After this, it was off to taster lessons or CAT profiling, then break, more taster sessions or team building at Butcher’s Coppice then lunch!
After lunch, there were team games with students working together as part of their new tutor group teams, all cheered on by their tutors and new Head of Year Miss Maybury.
The day finished with a brief farewell assembly, after which students returned home for a few hours before coming back for uniform fitting and a talk with their parents. Day 2 starts tomorrow at 8.30am for more of the same ensuring everyone experiences everything!
Highlights of the day included …. well … All of it! But pictured are two year 6s with Mrs Shinton … “Miss, we’ve loved making these scones today – it’s been brilliant!”
…Roll on September…
