Year 7 & 8 Theatre Visit – War Horse at Southampton Mayflower

In the last week before May half term, Year 7 and 8 students had the fantastic opportunity to watch Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton for part of their KS3 studies.  For many of the students it was their first visit to the theatre and “wow”… what a performance!

Our students were thrilled to be part of a standing ovation at the end of the show!

“War Horse was a great experience and I loved every minute of it! Not only was it entertaining but it also taught us about World War 2 and how the horses were treated during this period”  stated Madie from Year 7. Sophie also added “I loved War Horse because the actors were great and they were really confident, the puppets were also amazing, I have never seen anything like it. After a few minutes I believed that all the animals were real!” Lastly, Daniel stated “I now love the theatre and I can’t wait to go again!”

The trip was a huge success and it was a great way to see history and literacy come to life on the stage. Thanks to all students and staff involved!
